My story
Sport has always been a huge part of my life.
At the start of my career, I spent three years as a professional footballer. When that chapter ended and I fell out of love with the game, I needed something to replace it.
I signed up for an Ironman 70.3 to stay fit and quickly realised two things: I wasn’t much of a swimmer, I never loved running, but I absolutely loved riding the bike.
What started as a hobby gradually became something much bigger.
After leaving a corporate role, I took what I thought would be a one-year break to learn bike mechanics in my local bike shop. Six years later, I’m still working in cycling — now as a race mechanic at the highest level of the sport.
Over the past five seasons, I’ve worked with some of the top teams in the world, led mechanic teams at World Championships for Great Britain Cycling, and supported a gold medal-winning Olympic mountain bike team.
Through both football and cycling, I’ve spent over eight years working in elite professional sport — gaining experience, knowledge and perspective that I wish I’d had when I first started riding.
Why Gruppo?
Cycling can feel overwhelming.
There’s endless advice online, expensive upgrades, conflicting opinions and pressure to train harder — but often the basics get overlooked.
Gruppo was created to help riders cut through the noise.
